We discover and develop distinctive stories across cultures, then connect them with the creative and commercial partners who can bring them to the screen.
We believe exceptional stories can originate anywhere — but they do not always have a clear path to the global entertainment market. Culturally distinctive books, journalism, podcasts, screenplays, true stories, and original ideas are often overlooked because their creators lack access to the right development expertise, industry relationships, or international partners.
Saffran Studios exists to bridge that gap. We bring together regional discovery, creative development, rights strategy, packaging, and international industry relationships to help those stories find a path to the screen.
Our first international operation is in Scandinavia, where we work to identify distinctive material and connect it with partners in the United States and beyond. Scandinavia is the beginning of our international discovery model — not the limit of it.
We identify compelling intellectual property, creators, and original ideas across cultures and markets — through relationships, not mass submissions. We look for material that feels culturally specific but emotionally universal.
We clarify each project’s creative direction, format, audience, and adaptation potential — from premise and emotional engine onward. Not to make a story generic, but to communicate its value clearly.
We build the materials and pursue the writers, directors, producers, talent, and financiers who can strengthen a project. Every project gets its own strategy — there is no one-size-fits-all path to the screen.
We create targeted pathways between rights holders, creative partners, and the international marketplace — helping projects move between markets, languages, and cultures without losing their identity.
We do not believe every story should be developed the same way. We work to understand what makes each story distinctive, preserve that identity, and determine the creative and commercial strategy most likely to move it forward.
We are drawn to stories that could only have come from a particular place — exploring emotions audiences everywhere understand. Cultural identity is an asset, not an obstacle.
We review widely but develop a deliberately focused slate. Our value comes from the work between discovery and the eventual deal — not from volume.
We look for the intersection of strong storytelling, adaptability, audience potential, and realistic production pathways — respecting both the work and the marketplace.
We do not promise outcomes. We promise a thoughtful process, serious consideration, strategic development, and committed advocacy for the projects we choose to pursue.
By building teams within individual markets, we discover material with greater cultural understanding, earlier access, and stronger relationships with creators and rights holders.
Scandinavia is our first international discovery region — chosen for its storytelling traditions, respected creative community, and wealth of material without a direct path into the U.S. industry. Over time, we intend to build similar connections in other parts of the world.
Quality over quantity.
Original voices. Commercial courage.
Stories built to last decades.
Stories without borders.
Technology serves creativity.
We work with authors, publishers, journalists, creators, estates, producers, and other rights holders seeking thoughtful film and television opportunities for their material. We provide strategic evaluation, development, packaging, and targeted industry outreach.
We provide producers, financiers, studios, platforms, and creative partners with curated access to distinctive intellectual property and original concepts — selected and developed with both creative integrity and market potential in mind, and presented with the case for why each project matters.

Saffran takes its name from two inspirations. Saffron — the world’s most precious spice: rarity, craftsmanship, enduring value. And Saffran — a Rhodesian Ridgeback whose quiet strength and loyalty inspired the studio’s identity.
Like great storytelling itself, its meaning unfolds over time.
We welcome conversations with rights holders, creators, publishers, producers, and creative partners who share our belief in the global potential of distinctive stories.
